Snoring
Restful sleep is essential for good health and performance. Not getting enough sleep can affect not only your general well-being, but also your physical and mental performance.
Patients who snore at night not only disturb their partner’s sleep, but can also significantly endanger their own health. Snoring is often more than just an annoying sound. It can be a symptom of serious health problems, especially if it leads to frequent interruptions in breathing, known as sleep apnea syndrome.
Patients with sleep apnea syndrome enter the so-called deep sleep phases, which are crucial for the regeneration of the body and the processing of experiences and information, less frequently and for a shorter period of time. These disturbed sleep patterns often lead to pronounced daytime sleepiness, reduced ability to concentrate and an overall decline in cognitive and physical performance.
The cardiovascular system is particularly sensitive to the nightly lack of oxygen. The repeated breathing interruptions put a strain on the heart and significantly increase the risk of serious illnesses such as stroke, heart attack and high blood pressure. In addition, there is an increased risk of depression, impotence and other health problems that can significantly impair quality of life.
